What is Kamp en Hout?
Kamp en Hout is a one-of-a-kind weekend event that will make your hands itch to start building. Teams with diverse backgrounds, consisting of a minimum of 6 and a maximum of 8 participants, compete against each other with one clear goal: constructing the most innovative camp using ropes and wooden poles. The winning team takes home a full load of pioneering wood. Individual registration is also possible.
Our aim is to bring people together — young and old, from Chiro, Scouts, KSA, Europascouts, former Scouts, KAJ, FOS Open Scouting, and beyond — to inspire one another and collectively push rope-and-wood constructions to the next level. Our goal is to grow without limits in our pioneering skills and to learn from the best practices of all participating groups.
No prior experience with pioneering techniques? No worries — a technical support team will be on hand to guide you. Fun remains the most important goal. Along the way, we’ll take part in various challenges and games to fully embrace the camp spirit.
“Kamp en Hout” literally means “camp and wood” in Dutch, referring to the core elements of the event: building camps using wooden poles and rope. At the same time, it’s a playful wordplay on Kampenhout, the Belgian municipality where the event takes place. The name perfectly captures both the spirit of the event and its location.
Nature-Fiendly:
We challenge ourselves to build our camp in a thoughtful, nature-friendly way, keeping our ecological footprint as small as possible.

Camp Theme 2026
“10 Years of Building Bridges”
Unleash your creativity and playfulness! Design and build the most original constructions around our theme.
For 10 years, Kamp en Hout has been connecting youth from different cultures and countries. We build bridges from wood and rope — but even more so from trust, friendship, and courage.
Bridges open new paths, new worlds, and new stories. Every crossing begins with teamwork and believing in each other. Sometimes it wobbles, sometimes you start over — but together, you always move forward.
After ten years, we keep building. Keep crossing. Keep believing.
€50 for students (without salary) €60 non students.
Including 6 meals, use of tents, poles and ropes for lashing, and plenty of fun!
Not too much, as Kamp en Hout provides food, pioneering wood, ropes, and tents.
Make sure to bring your uniform, play clothes, mess kit, cutlery, headlamp, sleeping gear, pocket knife, toiletry kit, and a cup — plus any other typical items.
You will receive a very practical checklist after registration.
Each participant must be insured through their own association.
